Principal
Our Principal, sole practitioner Damien Carter graduated from the University of Queensland in 1988 with a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws. After a two year articled clerkship, Damien was admitted in 1990 as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of Queensland and to the High Court of Australia.
Damien was among the first group of Queensland practitioners to gain specialist Family Law accreditation from the Queensland Law Society and has practised almost exclusively in this area since admission.
Panel Work
Committed to Legal Aid work on the Independent Children’s Lawyer and Separate Representative Panels, Damien has acted for children in family law matters since 1998 and in child protection matters since 2005.
Damien chairs regular mediation conferences at Legal Aid’s Dispute Resolution Services and has maintained membership as a Legal Aid FDR Practitioner for more than 15 years.
Memberships
Damien was recently recognised by the Queensland Law Society with his 25 year membership, a mark of dedication to the profession.
Damien is also a member of the Family Law Practitioners Association of Queensland.
Mediation
As a FDR Accredited Mediator, Damien enjoys mediating in all areas, with a particular focus on family law. Click here for more about FDR mediation.

Damien’s sole practice, Carter Farquar Mediation and Family Law opened in April 2009.
